The difficult start to 2025 is just the tip of an iceberg of problems that have gripped the Prancing Horse for years. According to former world champion Jacques Villeneuve, Ferrari is “far from finding a solution,” and Lewis Hamilton is not helping Maranello’s cause.
Launched with grand proclamations, the 2025 season for the Prancing Horse is proving to be a calvary — yet another in recent years. It has been far too long since Ferrari tasted the joy of a world title: only a few rare, ultimately fleeting moments have brought a smile to the faces of the Tifosi, who have been without a championship since the 2007/2008 period.
Ferrari, always the same story: “It’s been like this for years!”
The former F1 world champion from 1997, Canadian Jacques Villeneuve, is convinced that Ferrari is in a dead end. “Ferrari needs to focus on doing better, because what they’re doing now isn’t enough.”
“Furthermore, if the two drivers don’t work the same way, everything becomes more complicated,” explained the former driver, now a commentator and pundit. “At every race we hear that things are getting better! I’ve stopped listening to all that… This story has been going on for years and they still haven’t found the solution. And I don’t think they can find an answer with what they have now.” – he pointed out.
“It seems like Hamilton is doubting himself”
Speaking about Lewis Hamilton, the former world champion wanted to analyse the mental state the English superstar is currently facing. The Canadian focused on the last Spanish GP at the Circuit de Catalunya: “It was a tough GP to watch. This is not a happy moment for Lewis Hamilton.” – he added.
“It’s a difficult situation to understand,” Jacques Villeneuve explained. “He showed he’s still fast, he had a good qualifying, but he’s not consistent.” The 54-year-old from Saint Jean-sur-Richelieu doubts Sir Lewis’s current mental condition: “It seems like he’s doubting himself. Even when he speaks, he doesn’t sound energetic at all. It’s tough to watch this happen to a champion like Lewis.”
