The FIA has announced that it conducted thorough analyses on Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari SF-24 following the Japanese Grand Prix. Through an official statement, the FIA revealed that Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari SF-24 underwent additional checks after the race at Suzuka.
This situation is nothing abnormal or extraordinary. The Federation usually randomly selects one car among the top ten finishers for a thorough analysis. In Japan, the FIA chose Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari for random checks. In Saudi Arabia, for example, it was Max Verstappen’s Red Bull RB20.
The Federation also disclosed which elements were scrutinized in detail during the inspection. The officials focused mainly on the flexibility of various components, particularly the central part of the floor and the entire assembly of the rear wing.
Checks were carried out on the mainplane, movable flap, and endplates. The thickness of the plank was also verified, an element that had led to the disqualification of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in the last United States Grand Prix in Austin at COTA.
In the statement, the FIA noted that all the checked elements complied with the 2024 technical regulations.

It’s not surprising that the focus was on the flexibility of the components. Indeed, we know that since last year, the Federation has intervened to limit this phenomenon and increase the rigidity of certain parts of the car. However, there were no issues for Ferrari, which easily passed all the inspections. The Scuderia is now gearing up for significant updates for Imola to try to further close the gap with Red Bull.

But first, there will be the Sprint Race events in China and Miami. Two tracks where the SF-24 could perform very well, especially in Florida.
