Ferrari returns to track action following the Japanese Grand Prix. During the enforced break caused by the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grands Prix, the Scuderia is not limiting itself to SF-26 simulator work but has planned two on-track sessions.
Mugello hosts the first test session
It’s not an April Fool’s joke: tomorrow, Ferrari’s test team will take to the Mugello circuit for the start of a two-day TPC testing session. At Ferrari’s home track, there will be no race drivers in action. Instead, test drivers who contribute to the growth of the team in the simulator will take the wheel.
The drivers scheduled to rotate behind the wheel will be Antonio Giovinazzi, Arthur Leclerc, and Antonio Fuoco, providing a valuable training session for the Scuderia.
SF-25 takes the track
With the introduction of the 2026 regulations, the agile F1 cars now have nothing in common with the previous ground-effect machines. For this reason, the FIA has authorized the use of last year’s cars for TPC tests (Testing of Previous Cars). Ferrari will therefore use the SF-25, whereas in past seasons, teams were required to field cars at least two years old.
Monza filming day for the SF-26
Following the Mugello tests, Ferrari will move to Monza for the second filming day. According to insider reports, the session is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21. Choosing the Temple of Speed is no coincidence: under the 200 km limit allowed by the regulations, the SF-26 will be able to assess its energy recovery performance on one of the most challenging tracks for recharge management.
The filming day will see Ferrari’s two race drivers, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, in action. Beyond commercial filming, the session will be crucial to evaluate progress in energy recharge and aerodynamic development.
It is expected that the Macarena rear wing will be used, forming part of the aerodynamic package that will make its competitive debut in Miami when the championship resumes on May 3.
Upcoming Pirelli wet tire test at Fiorano
Meanwhile, a Pirelli wet tire test will take place at Fiorano on March 9 and 10, rescheduled from an earlier date. These sessions will allow Ferrari to continue fine-tuning performance and reliability ahead of the upcoming races.
