Time bomb inside Ferrari: the atmosphere in Maranello is critical!
Ferrari is dealing with what has been described as a ticking time bomb inside Maranello, with the atmosphere at the factory reaching breaking point. Under the leadership of Frédéric Vasseur, the Scuderia is facing one of its toughest moments, as the failure of the SF-25 project has triggered internal unrest and rising tension within the team.
Pressure is mounting on every front. When asked about the recent exits of senior engineers, including Wolf Zimmermann and Lars Schmidt, Fred Vasseur dismissed the matter as a “joke.” It is clear that the team principal is trying to deflect attention away from rumors surrounding what is happening inside Ferrari’s headquarters. The SF-25, however, suffers from structural flaws that could not be fixed even with the rear suspension update. Meanwhile, Loic Serra is shaping his first Ferrari project, the 678, which is expected to feature a revolution in mechanics along with significant aerodynamic innovations. Despite this, the internal atmosphere appears far from calm, with worrying leaks emerging from behind the scenes.
Internal clashes and engineers blocked by their superiors
According to Matteo Bobbi, who spoke during a live broadcast on AutoRacer.it, the environment inside the Ferrari Racing Division is nothing short of toxic. He explained that meetings are being held—similar to those Lewis Hamilton mentioned in the past but in a very different context—where discussions revolve mostly around statements like: “Oh, you have to contact this other department.” As a result, Ferrari’s engineers waste valuable time and energy, focusing more on avoiding mistakes and protecting their positions than on proposing concrete ideas and helping the team progress. Italian journalist Giuliano Duchessa has also highlighted the same issue, questioning what exactly is going wrong at Maranello.
Inside the Maranello team’s factory, some engineers cannot even share their ideas because they are blocked by their superiors. This is a very serious problem within a Formula 1 team, and it only adds to the growing frustration and discontent. The most frustrating part is that Ferrari has plenty of talent that is not being used to its full potential. We can clearly see this when Ferrari engineers leave the team, join rivals, and immediately deliver excellent results. This subject has also been analyzed by Luigi Mazzola, a former Ferrari engineer during the glory years of Michael Schumacher. According to reliable sources, if such a toxic situation is truly present, then trust in Ferrari’s car for 2026 is already severely compromised.
