An alarming statistic emerges: Ferrari worse than Racing Bulls and Williams…
Ferrari continues to send worrying signals, and now an alarming statistic has emerged: Racing Bulls and Williams have managed to do an even better job than the Scuderia in recent races.
The Maranello team finds itself in a very difficult moment, as the SF-25 appears unlikely to win a race this season. Ferrari, however, must face a particularly alarming figure that places them behind both Racing Bulls and Williams.
“I am angry because yesterday there was potential to do better. We have had the same approach since the start of the season, probably the same as the others or at least the gap is the same. We all have the same fuel and engine routines. But we have always had the same approach from the beginning. The pace was there this weekend, and that is where the frustration comes from. We weren’t able to put everything together on Saturday, and then today we got stuck in traffic behind Norris,” said the Ferrari team principal after the Baku Grand Prix. It must be admitted that execution has been one of Ferrari’s weak points, and the results of the last races are clear evidence of that. The topic was also discussed in the podcast ‘Terruzzi Racconta’ where Giorgio Terruzzi and Pino Allievi gave their opinions.
“We are a bit disarmed”
Terruzzi: “I took the data from the last three Grands Prix. Ferrari scored 26 points in the last three races. Racing Bulls scored 27, Williams 31, Mercedes 54, McLaren 64, and Red Bull 78. Ferrari has lost second place in the Constructors’ Championship. We are a bit disarmed here, with constant words used to describe Ferrari’s situation that are completely far from reality. I don’t understand why, instead of making promises and talking about potential or pace… Leclerc’s qualifying crash plays a role, but it is not the only reason. And I will skip the mess at the end of the race, because even that is part of this bigger problem where they cannot even manage to give a position back.”
Allievi: “That was pathetic, it should not even be discussed. Yes, but honestly it’s the least of Ferrari’s problems. But just imagine if Ferrari [Enzo, editor’s note] was still around. The debate about whether Hamilton should have given the place back or made a mistake… come on.”
Ferrari loses second place in the Constructors’ standings
It was precisely in Azerbaijan that Ferrari lost second place in the Constructors’ Championship. The car lacks consistency in its performance, and as soon as conditions change it becomes almost undriveable. Frédéric Vasseur knows well that with this package, every detail must be optimized, but his team seems unable to achieve that. At this point, the season is practically over and Ferrari’s chances of victory are minimal.
Another issue discussed was the failed swap between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc on the final lap, a topic that has already been widely analyzed with comments from the drivers themselves. But creating controversy over an eighth or ninth place finish should not be a problem for Ferrari. The real dramas at Maranello are far more serious.
