The team principal, who had to leave the Austrian Grand Prix due to personal reasons, will be back at the helm of Scuderia Ferrari at Silverstone, where he hopes the Maranello-based team can continue its positive momentum after the introduction of the new floor upgrades. There is anticipation for Lewis Hamilton’s home race, which he has already won nine times.
Fred Vasseur will return to lead Ferrari from the pit wall at Silverstone, after the Frenchman unexpectedly missed the Austrian Grand Prix, having been forced to leave the Red Bull Ring circuit on Saturday and rush home due to personal matters.
Looking ahead to the British round of the championship, the head of the Scuderia hopes to replicate the result achieved in Styria, as proof that the upgrades introduced last Sunday can indeed mark a step forward—not so much in terms of outright performance, but rather in improving the drivability of the SF-25, allowing for a wider operating window of the tyres. Last Sunday’s third and fourth place finishes definitely boosted morale within the team, which has now reclaimed second position in the Constructors’ Championship.
“After Austria, we move on to Silverstone, a very different circuit and one of the great classics on the calendar. The updates introduced on the SF-25 in Spielberg certainly contributed to the good result we achieved last Sunday, and we want to build on this positive momentum for the upcoming race as well.”
The Frenchman also wanted to highlight how the improved execution of the race weekend helped Ferrari position itself as the closest challenger to the two untouchable McLaren cars:
“We saw how important it is to manage every aspect of the weekend carefully in order to deliver a solid performance, and as always, we will focus on ourselves with the goal of putting together another clean weekend.”
Silverstone will also be a special event for Lewis Hamilton…
“This is Lewis’s home Grand Prix, and he will be particularly motivated to do well, also thanks to the huge support he always receives here. I’m looking forward to being back on track with the whole team: the atmosphere at Silverstone is always something special.”
