Ferrari presents the SF-26 for 2026: technical specifications
Ferrari has officially revealed the SF-26, the car it will use to chase the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship. Here, we take a closer look at the technical specifications of the new single-seater.
The anticipation for the SF-26 was high, not only to see its livery but also to compare the design choices made by Ferrari with those of other teams. From the first images, some interesting differences appear that will need to be confirmed during pre-season testing and, above all, during the opening race weekend.
Chassis and bodywork
The SF-26 chassis is made of carbon fiber honeycomb composite, a solution that ensures extremely high structural rigidity while keeping weight low. The cockpit is protected by the Halo system, now an essential safety feature for drivers. Both the bodywork and seat are also carbon fiber, contributing to an optimized center of gravity. The longitudinal Ferrari eight-speed gearbox with reverse provides ultra-fast shifts, while the hydraulically controlled rear differential improves traction on corner exits. Brembo carbon-carbon ventilated disc brakes, combined with electronic rear brake control, deliver powerful and highly controllable deceleration. The front and rear push-rod suspensions complete a refined chassis package. The overall weight, including water, oil, and driver, is 770 kg, with 18-inch wheels.
Power unit and energy recovery system
The heart of the SF-26 is the 067/6 power unit, a 1.6-liter 90° V6 turbocharged by a single turbo capable of reaching 150,000 rpm. Direct fuel injection operates up to 350 bar, while the maximum fuel flow rate is set at 3,000 MJ/h, ensuring a balance between performance and efficiency.
Crucial to the car’s performance is the ERS system, featuring a 350 kW MGU-K powered by 35 kg lithium-ion batteries. With a maximum voltage of 1,000 V and advanced energy management, the SF-26 maximizes energy recovery and deployment, confirming itself as a cutting-edge single-seater in modern Formula 1.
