Lewis Hamilton has shown clear progress and renewed confidence behind the wheel of his Ferrari. While recent rounds have brought disappointing results for the Scuderia, the seven-time World Champion can still be satisfied with the direction his season has taken since the summer break.
Ferrari’s 2025 Formula 1 campaign has entered a complicated phase, with the last few races falling short of expectations. However, Lewis Hamilton’s performances have improved significantly since the restart of the season. The British driver’s pace has become much stronger, and despite the late brake issue that overshadowed his race in Singapore, he was on course for a strong fifth place ahead of Andrea Kimi Antonelli and teammate Charles Leclerc. The upcoming round in Austin will be an important test to confirm his upward trend.
Hamilton’s improvement throughout the season
Motorsport.com journalist Roberto Chinchero recently analyzed the situation in a video on the outlet’s official channel, highlighting Hamilton’s clear progress since joining Ferrari. “I think there have been great steps forward. Ferrari has met him halfway, and he has adapted a bit himself. This combination has led to his current form,” he explained.
“We’re now seeing a much better version of Hamilton compared to the first part of the season,” Roberto Chinchero added. “At the moment, he’s matching Leclerc to the hundredth, and sometimes he’s even ahead. In the last few races, the two Ferrari drivers have been on equal terms. This confirms the hard work Lewis has been putting in since the spring.”
Even before the season began, there had been much discussion about Lewis Hamilton’s adaptation period after spending his entire career racing for British teams, between McLaren and Mercedes. According to Roberto Chinchero, that stage is now behind him, and the seven-time World Champion has finally found the right level of confidence with the car. The only real problem now lies in Ferrari’s inability to provide a machine capable of consistently fighting for wins.
Looking ahead to Hamilton’s future
Roberto Chinchero also touched on the subject of Lewis Hamilton’s future in Formula 1, given his age and the team’s uncertain trajectory. “I think the destiny of Hamilton and Leclerc in red will be determined by next year’s car. If it proves competitive, this same driver pairing could continue into 2027,” said the Italian journalist.
He also reflected on possible scenarios should Ferrari’s car remain uncompetitive, even after the upcoming regulation changes. In that case, the Briton could begin to seriously consider retirement from Formula 1—after an extraordinary career that has already left an indelible mark on the sport’s history.
