Ferrari runs Pirelli test at Fiorano: first images
This morning, Ferrari took to the Fiorano track for the first of two scheduled Pirelli test days this week. Behind the wheel of the SF-26 was Lewis Hamilton, who was evaluating full wet tire solutions for Formula 1’s exclusive tire supplier. Despite the sunny weather, the Maranello-based team had the track surface deliberately watered to simulate wet conditions. Here are some images captured earlier today:

The testing with Pirelli will continue tomorrow. As usual for these sessions, the work is primarily focused on gathering data on tire performance. For Ferrari, however, it also represents an excellent opportunity to accumulate mileage with the SF-26 during this unusual April, a month without any scheduled races following the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grands Prix due to tensions in the Middle East. Last week, the Maranello squad also conducted a TPC test at Mugello, using the SF-25 with reserve drivers Antonio Giovinazzi, Antonio Fuoco, and Arthur Leclerc.
Ferrari’s on-track program will conclude with a filming day scheduled at Monza on Wednesday, April 22. The 2026 F1 World Championship will resume on the weekend of May 1-3 with the Miami Grand Prix, the fourth round of the season.
In summary, while the Pirelli tests are technically restricted to tire development, seeing Lewis Hamilton at Fiorano provides a significant morale boost for the Tifosi. The data gathered today on the full wet compounds will be crucial for the SF-26’s performance should the rain arrive during the upcoming American leg of the season. As the team prepares for the logistical move to Miami, every lap completed by the Briton helps refine the synergy between the driver and his new machine. Stay tuned for more updates as the second day of testing unfolds tomorrow in Maranello.
