2019: Charles Leclerc wins in front of the tifosi
Charles Leclerc converted pole position into victory at Monza, resisting the challenge from Mercedes to secure his second Formula 1 win. The result brought consecutive victories at two of the championship’s most recognisable circuits.
For Ferrari supporters, the setting gave the achievement particular significance. A driver in his first year with the Scuderia had won its home Grand Prix, with the celebrations unfolding beneath Monza’s famous podium.
1996: Michael Schumacher’s first Monza win for Ferrari
Michael Schumacher’s victory on 8 September 1996 also came during his first season as a Ferrari driver. It was his third win for the team that year, following Spain and Belgium.
Although the 1996 season did not bring a championship, the Monza result became an important early success in the partnership that would later deliver five consecutive drivers’ titles.
