The thousands of Italian Tifosi who will fill the grandstands of the circuit dedicated to Enzo and Dino Ferrari are hoping to see Fred Vasseur’s Ferrari competitive during the Imola GP weekend, despite the lack of new updates. The new package, which is expected to include a revised rear suspension, will instead be introduced in two weeks in Barcelona.
The Montmeló round, both for the characteristics of the track and because the FIA will finally implement the long-awaited technical directive concerning flexible wings, could shift the current balance of the grid. This explains Ferrari’s decision—shared by other teams—to delay the debut of their new updates by a few races, in hopes they can return the SF-25 to the fight for victory.
Fred Vasseur previews the Imola Weekend
Despite the lack of new parts, the Maranello squad still hopes to deliver a positive Sunday to its supporters, who are ready to pack the stands of the Emilia-Romagna circuit. Fred Vasseur confirmed this in his usual weekend preview. “After the first six races, held across three different continents, we begin the European season with the Imola round. Over the past few days, we’ve worked hard in Maranello, paying attention to every little detail in preparation for the next race. The goal is to maximize the potential of our current package to allow Lewis and Charles to perform at their best. In addition, we’ll have the support of our Tifosi, which gives us the right energy to face the weekend,” said the Scuderia’s team principal ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix weekend.
Last year, Charles Leclerc managed to finish in third place, just behind the Max Verstappen–Lando Norris duo that lit up the race finale. The Briton nearly completed a comeback, crossing the finish line less than a second behind Red Bull’s Dutchman.
