Fred Vasseur commented on recent rumors suggesting that Charles Leclerc might leave Ferrari at the end of the season.
The past few weeks have been anything but calm in Maranello. Between the speculation about a possible departure of Charles Leclerc and the highly uncertain future of Fred Vasseur, Ferrari is at the center of a true media storm. A situation that doesn’t sit well with the current Team Principal of the Scuderia, who, during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, made very strong statements against journalists.
According to the former Alfa Romeo boss, the lack of success at Ferrari is partly due to the press, which he accused of creating excessively high expectations even before the car hit the track. These accusations naturally triggered a series of articles and official statements reacting to Fred Vasseur’s words, who is increasingly at risk looking ahead to 2026.
The Frenchman’s contract expires at the end of the season and, as of now, there do not appear to be conditions in place to continue together. This explains the many names that have emerged in recent hours as possible replacements for the current Team Principal.
Fred Vasseur clarifies Leclerc’s future
Among the many topics addressed by Fred Vasseur in recent interviews was also the future of Charles Leclerc and the possibility that the Monegasque driver might decide to leave Ferrari at the end of the season. “Charles has a very long contract with us. In all interviews, he has always reiterated his desire to continue racing for Ferrari. He wants to win with Ferrari. And his future will continue to be with Ferrari. But then every Monday there are articles claiming he wants to leave and I don’t know what else to do. I have to constantly repeat the same things,” said the Team Principal of the Scuderia.
As of today, it seems quite unlikely that the Monegasque driver would leave Maranello, at least at the end of this season. Charles Leclerc has repeatedly stated his love for the Scuderia and his desire to bring it back to the top. Even though, of course, patience may eventually run out.
