Rumors about Ferrari and Frédéric Vasseur show no signs of stopping: if the Frenchman were to say goodbye to the F1 team, many names are in the running for the role
In F1, developments are awaited on the Frédéric Vasseur and Ferrari issue: some are convinced the farewell has already happened, while another name emerges. The adventure of the French engineer, team principal of the Prancing Horse since the 2023 season, might already be over. Before and after the Canadian Grand Prix, authoritative sources from the press seemed to take his departure for granted.
It’s a critical moment for Ferrari’s future. Despite all the denials from Maranello, the paddock continues to talk about a possible farewell from Frédéric Vasseur. A few days ago, La Gazzetta dello Sport once again pointed to Antonello Coletta as the only possible choice for the role of team principal. The current head of the Endurance program – who has collected three wins out of three at the 24h of Le Mans – is a respected and widely appreciated figure.
It’s hard to be certain that a “coach change” could be the definitive solution to the Prancing Horse’s problems. It’s an approach that seems more suited to football than motorsport and, on the eve of a technical revolution, could force Ferrari into new and difficult years of transition. Meanwhile, from Germany, someone is convinced there’s another figure suited to this technical moment.
Schumacher: “I would hire Seidl, but he won’t be able to do anything alone”
Speaking on the Backstage Boxengasse podcast, former driver and pundit Ralf Schumacher suggested another profile: “If I had to choose today, I would try to hire Andreas Seidl – who also had a long history of success in Endurance with Porsche, before returning to Formula 1 with McLaren and later taking on the role of CEO at Sauber, succeeding Mattia Binotto – But he won’t be able to do everything alone, he’ll need a structure working for him.”
However, the German isn’t convinced about the accusations leveled against Frédéric Vasseur: “There are rumors that he’s the one slowing down the team. That’s not true. In reality, many operations aren’t being carried out properly, even though they’re being requested.”
