The first day of testing at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi is already in full swing: Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas was the fastest in the morning session, with a personal best of 1’38 “488, although the time references are definitely high compared to those we saw during the race weekend. After all, these sessions are not necessarily for performance, but to test Pirelli’s new tyres for the 2020 Formula One season.
Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel finished the first part of the day behind the Mercedes driver, with 40 laps completed. However, Ferrari did not have a smooth first testing session because Sebastian Vettel was stopped due to a problem with the exhaust, but the German driver will return to the track in the afternoon.
