Despite rumors tempered by John Elkann regarding the possible arrival of Christian Horner at Ferrari, the debate over who is the right choice for the Maranello team’s future remains lively. During the Race Anatomy broadcast, discussion focused on Fred Vasseur, with journalist Leo Turrini admitting: “When a figure like this is on the market, someone who has won a lot, it is normal for people to speculate. Likewise, it is fair not to rule out a future engagement outright. But at the moment, Ferrari has Fred Vasseur, who was only announced two months ago. The 2026 car is already under construction. In my opinion, John Elkann will wait to see how the next season unfolds; at this time, bringing in Horner wouldn’t make sense.”
The opinion of Umberto Zapelloni
“It would be madness because it would remove the person responsible for the 2026 car,” replied Umberto Zapelloni. “There was more optimism in letting Fred Vasseur go than in bringing Horner in. Horner isn’t very popular for his methods; the hope was that he would leave rather than that another would arrive,” he concluded. The near future of the Scuderia is already set, and the 2026 season will reveal whether there will be major changes within the team.
