Scuderia Ferrari arrives at Silverstone with growing confidence and clear ambitions following an encouraging result at the Austrian Grand Prix. Team Principal Frederic Vasseur believes the technical upgrades introduced on the Ferrari SF-25 in Spielberg made a significant contribution to the Maranello team’s performance and hopes to carry that positive momentum into one of Formula 1’s most historic and challenging races.
Ferrari Prepares for Silverstone: A Special Track in F1 History
The Silverstone Circuit, located in Northamptonshire, United Kingdom, is widely regarded as one of the most iconic venues on the Formula 1 calendar. It was the site of the first-ever Formula 1 World Championship race, held on May 13, 1950. One year later, in 1951, Scuderia Ferrari achieved its first Formula 1 victory at the same track thanks to Argentine driver José Froilán González. The connection between Ferrari and Silverstone will grow even stronger in the 2025 season, with seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton now driving for the Maranello-based team. Hamilton has won at Silverstone on nine occasions, including his emotional and long-awaited home victory in 2024, which ended a winless streak of over two years.
What to Expect from Ferrari at Silverstone
Looking ahead to this weekend’s British Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari is optimistic that the new floor introduced in Austria will once again prove beneficial. Silverstone is a high-speed circuit with a series of fast, sweeping corners that place a premium on aerodynamic efficiency and downforce. The updated SF-25, which showed signs of progress at the Red Bull Ring, could prove especially competitive in such conditions.
However, the British Grand Prix will also be a critical battleground for other top teams such as Red Bull Racing and McLaren, both of which have demonstrated strong form on circuits with similar characteristics. As a result, the race promises to be a close contest where even small improvements could make a big difference. Ferrari’s challenge will be to capitalize on its upgrades and deliver a clean and consistent weekend.
Frederic Vasseur’s Comments Ahead of the British Grand Prix
Team Principal Frederic Vasseur shared his thoughts on the upcoming weekend:
“After the Austrian Grand Prix, we now head to Silverstone, a very different type of circuit and one of the true classics on the Formula 1 calendar. The upgrades introduced on our SF-25 in Spielberg certainly contributed to the strong result we achieved last Sunday, and we aim to carry this positive momentum into the next race weekend as well,” said the Frenchman.
Fred Vasseur also stressed the importance of execution and focus across the entire race weekend:
“We have seen how crucial it is to take care of every detail throughout the weekend in order to deliver a strong performance. As always, our main focus will be on ourselves, and the goal is to put together another clean and productive weekend.”
Finally, the Ferrari team principal highlighted the significance of Silverstone for Lewis Hamilton, who will be racing in front of his home crowd in a Ferrari for the first time:
“This is Lewis Hamilton’s home Grand Prix, and he’ll be particularly motivated to perform well, especially with the incredible support he always receives from the British fans. I’m really looking forward to being at the track with the entire team—Silverstone always delivers a special atmosphere.” – the French manager concluded.
