F1 | Ferrari prepares its car for 2026: the first ideas to return to winning emerge
The first details are beginning to surface regarding the characteristics of the car with which Ferrari will go in search of the 2026 Formula 1 world championship. Once again, all eyes are firmly on the Scuderia from Maranello. Nearly twenty years after its last world title success, the upcoming regulatory change represents one of the best opportunities in the hands of Ferrari and team principal Fred Vasseur to try to return to the top of Formula 1.
To achieve this goal, it will be essential to arrive fully prepared for the opening rounds of the season, avoiding the need to play catch-up from the very beginning, as has unfortunately happened to Ferrari on several occasions in the past. Starting the new cycle on the right foot will be crucial if the team wants to make the most of the new technical framework.
Ferrari focuses on innovation to chase the world championship
According to the first rumours surrounding the technical features of the Ferrari car that is set to be unveiled on 23 January, several innovative solutions are being considered. The core idea is to adopt a carbon fibre suspension designed to offer greater flexibility. This approach is aimed at delivering tangible performance benefits across different track conditions.
The three main objectives of this solution are to improve overall stability, enhance tyre management and ensure a more consistent race pace throughout Grand Prix weekends. By keeping tyre degradation under control and maintaining balance over long stints, Ferrari hopes to gain a competitive edge during races rather than relying solely on qualifying performance.
Of course, the first real answers will only arrive during the pre-season testing sessions. Not so much during the Barcelona tests, where teams will mainly focus on checking that the cars function correctly and that all systems operate as expected, but especially during the Bahrain tests in Sakhir. It is there that the first real indications of performance will emerge, as teams begin to show their hand ahead of the Melbourne weekend, which should provide clearer insight into the possible direction of the championship. All of this comes with the hope that Ferrari will finally be able to start a season without compromises and with a car capable of fighting at the very front from the outset.
The pressure on Maranello continues to mount. With a revolutionary design and a clear strategy to master the new regulations, Ferrari is positioning itself to reclaim its place at the forefront of the grid and finally deliver the championship their Tifosi have been waiting for.
