Stefano Domenicali has openly defended Fred Vasseur, stating that “he is the right man to bring Ferrari back to the top,” and has explained why he has complete confidence in the French team principal. The Formula 1 CEO has expressed strong belief in Fred Vasseur and in the work he is carrying out at Ferrari, considering him the ideal figure to lead the Scuderia into a new phase of success as the sport approaches the 2026 season.
Ferrari finished the most recent season in fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. With Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in the driver line-up, the team was unable to fight for the title until the very end. Despite these results, Stefano Domenicali has no doubts about the direction Ferrari has taken. “Fred has shown that he has the skills and the experience needed to lead a team at the highest level,” he said in an interview with Sky Sports.
Domenicali renews his trust in Fred Vasseur and Ferrari for 2026
According to Stefano Domenicali, returning to the top of Formula 1 requires far more than pure speed on track. “We want a strong Ferrari. To achieve that, you need someone who can make the difference both from a strategic and an operational point of view,” he explained. “Fred fits perfectly into this context.”
The Italian manager, who served as Ferrari team principal from 2008 to 2014, also underlined the importance of internal organization within the team. “It is behind the scenes that Fred’s leadership truly emerges,” he said. The next championship is seen as a major opportunity. “It is the chance to show that Ferrari can excel not only in terms of outright performance, but also as a complete team.”
In Stefano Domenicali’s view, Ferrari does not lack resources or expertise at Maranello. “All the tools and the right people are already there. Now they need to be used to their full potential.” Change is never simple, especially at a historic team like Ferrari. “It can be demanding, but with the right people on board, such as Fred, Ferrari can build results that last over time.”
The 2026 season represents a key turning point for Ferrari’s future in Formula 1. With the support of the management and renewed confidence in Fred Vasseur, the Scuderia is now expected to turn words into concrete results on track. “This is the path to success in modern Formula 1,” Stefano Domenicali concluded.
The stability provided by Fred Vasseur’s leadership may be the missing piece of the puzzle for Ferrari. If the team can align their technical innovation with the operational precision Stefano Domenicali describes, the long wait for a world title may finally be nearing its end, bringing the Tifosi the glory they have craved for nearly two decades.
