Formula 1 has announced the schedule for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, set to take place over the weekend of November 17th to 19th. It will feature an opening ceremony as early as Wednesday to kick off what is expected to be, on paper, one of the most glamorous and widely-followed sporting events of the year. Additionally, the traffic lights will historically go out on Saturday in the United States, while the European time zone will require us to set our alarms very early in the morning.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix Schedule: The United States Does It Big
After already having held a race on American soil this year in Miami and being less than a week away from the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Formula 1 continues to expand into the American market, which has proven to be a literal gold mine in recent years.
However, the American continent already hosted three Formula 1 Grand Prix races in the 1980s, specifically in 1982. That season’s calendar saw the addition of the Detroit Grand Prix, in addition to the already known events in Long Beach and in Las Vegas, which last hosted the circus.
The paddock will return to racing along the famous Las Vegas Strip over 40 years after the last opportunity. As stated earlier, the program will also include a special ceremony on Wednesday.
As stated on the official Formula 1 website, “The Las Vegas Grand Prix circuit, measuring 6.1 km, winds through monuments, casinos, and world-famous hotels, while the drivers will challenge fate at speeds of up to 340 km/h,” making it one of the fastest circuits in the entire championship.
