Through a video published on its official YouTube channel, Ferrari has virtually taken its Tifosi inside a place that plays a crucial role during a Formula 1 race weekend. As the 2026 F1 season approaches and teams prepare to unveil their new cars, Ferrari has offered fans a rare glimpse behind the scenes while everyone waits to discover the new SF-26.
Red Bull and Visa Cash App will be the first teams to reveal their cars, with their launches scheduled for the night between January 15 and 16 in Italy. Ferrari, meanwhile, has set January 23 as the date for its own presentation. In the build-up to that moment, the Scuderia decided to showcase an exclusive and fundamental area of its operations by sharing a video focused on the remote garage, a true backbone of its race-weekend organisation.
The role of the remote garage
During a race weekend, Formula 1 teams rely on extensive engineering support. However, not all engineers are physically present in the garages at the circuit. A significant number of them remain at the factory, working remotely to provide constant support. Ferrari’s video highlights this environment and explains how essential the work carried out away from the track is in achieving strong results over the course of a Grand Prix weekend.
In the video, the remote garage is described as: “A sort of extension of the real garage we have at the track, more from an engineering point of view than from a mechanical one.” The engineers who stay in Maranello have a clearly defined mission: “To support the engineers at the track, work alongside them, and, when necessary, take over certain tasks when trackside personnel are busy with time-critical operations.”
The facility features numerous workstations, each occupied by engineers with specific responsibilities. “We have electronics engineers, power unit engineers, the strategy department, vehicle dynamics specialists, aerodynamicists, tyre engineers, the reliability department, gearbox engineers and software engineers,” Ferrari explains in the video.
This structure significantly increases the analytical capability of the race team. As highlighted, it also benefits from being located in a calmer and more controlled environment compared to the circuit itself. Crucially, the remote garage is directly integrated within the Maranello factory, allowing Ferrari to maintain a constant and highly efficient technical bridge between the track and its headquarters throughout every Formula 1 weekend.
As Formula 1 continues to lean into data-driven performance, these remote hubs have become the unsung heroes of the paddock. For Ferrari, the Remote Garage isn’t just a support room; it is a high-speed link that ensures every decision made on the pit wall is backed by the full weight of Maranello’s engineering excellence. As the 2026 season begins, this “bridge” will be more important than ever in the hunt for world championship glory.
