There are ongoing “conversations” between Oliver Bearman and Ferrari about a possible future in red, as revealed by the Haas driver himself. Oliver Bearman’s admiration for Ferrari is no secret: the Scuderia is already thinking about the era after Lewis Hamilton. The current Haas Formula 1 driver has been very clear about his ambitions. He wants a full-time race seat with the team that has written some of the most important chapters in Formula 1 history.
The British driver, born in 2005, has now moved beyond his rookie phase and is preparing to face what promises to be an unpredictable season shaped by new technical regulations. These rules are generating both excitement and concern across the grid. Oliver Bearman has made it clear that he is not intimidated by the 2026 technical revolution and feels ready to deal with whatever challenges it may bring.
Now a full-time Haas driver, Ollie Bearman already had a taste of life at Ferrari two years ago, when he was called up to replace the unavailable Carlos Sainz at the Jeddah Grand Prix. That experience only strengthened the link between the young Briton and the Scuderia. But will Bearman’s future eventually be painted red? For now, there is nothing concrete behind the “conversations” taking place between him and Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur.
“We speak from time to time, talking about the challenges I am facing this Formula 1 season,” Ollie Bearman told the media. “It is really just an open dialogue. I like to explain what is happening on my side, because it is easy to look only at the results on paper – but that does not always tell the full story. Very often, there is much more behind it.”
When discussing his long-term prospects, the Haas driver was equally clear. “As far as my future is concerned, there is no conversation. I just drive the car. I believe the rest will come naturally if I perform at a good level,” he explained.
From Ferrari’s side, Ollie Bearman also underlined that no specific signals have been sent so far. “There has been no positive or negative feedback,” he said. “As I mentioned, it is an open discussion. We talk about the challenges I am dealing with. Also, looking ahead, the new regulations are important. I have the same engine as them.”
Ollie Bearman then reflected on areas where Ferrari had previously encouraged him to improve. “There was a moment when they wanted me to get better in certain aspects,” he concluded. “For me, it will always be the case that I need to refine these areas, because my level of experience will increase and, naturally, I will improve over time.”
As the 2026 technical overhaul approaches, the partnership between Haas and Ferrari remains a vital proving ground for the young Brit. Whether Bearman’s path leads him back to Maranello as Hamilton’s successor remains to be seen, but his composure and transparency suggest he is playing the long game. For now, the F1 paddock will be watching closely to see if his performances on track can turn these casual “chats” into a definitive future in red.
