Carlos Sainz has arrived in Australia for the Melbourne Grand Prix as planned, but according to Spanish media, the Ferrari driver is not yet at 100%. It has been two weeks since Carlos Sainz underwent surgery, raising doubts about his presence behind the wheel during the Australian Grand Prix weekend at the Albert Park circuit.
Truth be told, the Spaniard was already back in the Ferrari garage the day after the operation to support the team at the Jeddah Grand Prix. His rapid recovery showcases the physical capabilities of these athletes.
However, according to Spanish media reports, Carlos Sainz is still not at 100%. Despite flying to Australia with the team without any complications from the surgery, his health condition is not yet optimal.
Will Carlos Sainz race in Australia?
On Tuesday, Carlos Sainz cycled around the Albert Park circuit, indicating an overall positive state of health. However, clearance to race must come from FIA doctors. Therefore, on Thursday, the Spaniard will need to be declared “fit to drive”.
To obtain clearance, the Spaniard will undergo physical tests required by the Federation. Among these, the most physically demanding seems to be the rapid egress from the cockpit in case of an emergency. Despite the necessary caution, it seems likely that Carlos Sainz will be back in the car starting from the first free practice session.

In the event that Carlos Sainz is unable to participate, Oliver Bearman will step in on the SF-24. The young Englishman is in Australia to take part in the F2 weekend but could have a second opportunity to drive the Ferrari SF-24 car if Carlos Sainz is unable to race.
