As we all know, Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz couldn’t take part in the track action on Friday and Saturday of the Saudi Arabian weekend. However, the Spaniard, despite the enforced break, showed up at the Ferrari garage where the mechanics had a very clear reaction.
The Jeddah weekend, which took place about two weeks ago, showcased a still-dominant and formidable Red Bull, but with a resurgent Ferrari. However, the Italian side faced a forced stop for one of their official drivers. Indeed, Carlos Sainz was diagnosed with appendicitis inflammation requiring urgent surgery. Despite the operation and enforced rest, Carlos Sainz wanted to return to the Ferrari garage to observe the race, and the mechanics had a shocked reaction.
Carlos Sainz’s Saudi weekend started uphill; indeed, his conditions were not optimal already on Wednesday’s media day. However, his determination and probably some painkillers helped him complete the scheduled work program for FP1 and FP2. At the end of the two Thursday sessions, the Spaniard was visibly drained and lacking in energy, to the point where he was hospitalized shortly after due to appendicitis inflammation.
After emergency surgery, Carlos Sainz had a chance to rest, albeit very briefly, in the hospital bed. In fact, as soon as he got the okay from the doctors, Carlos Sainz dressed in Ferrari’s “uniform” and headed to the circuit to follow his team’s race. Once in the Jeddah paddock, the Spaniard immediately headed to the Ferrari garage to embrace everyone.

At the moment of his entrance, everyone congratulated Carlos Sainz for his determination to be present. Naturally, along with the compliments, there were questions about his health condition, given that less than 24 hours before, he was under the knife in the hospital. Nevertheless, the most emblematic moment of the Ferrari “SF Full Access” video from the Saudi weekend is another one. Indeed, a few moments later, a mechanic is seen shaking hands with Carlos Sainz, saying to him, “Are you crazy?” with a hint of a smile. Carlos Sainz’s presence in the garage demonstrates his qualities as a team player even in a moment that wasn’t exactly simple from a physical standpoint.
