Charles Leclerc speaks openly in Drive to Survive: the best Ferrari of 2025 was not the one that competed in the Formula 1 World Championship.
There is no shortage of irony from Charles Leclerc after a disastrous 2025 Formula 1 campaign: according to the Monegasque driver, the best Ferrari of last season was the one made of LEGO bricks. Charles Leclerc, who finished fifth at the end of a World Championship marked by struggle and frustration, has not lost his sense of humor. Speaking to the microphones of Drive to Survive — the Netflix docu-drama series that has followed Formula 1 for years — he revealed what he believes was Ferrari’s best race of the year.
It is difficult to describe 2025 as a happy season for the two Ferrari drivers. The optimism and excitement of the winter months quickly turned into a long and painful ordeal, with McLaren already untouchable in Australia and the decision, made before the summer break, to halt all development on the SF-25. That choice — as Frédéric Vasseur had already explained — had a significantly negative impact on the morale of the entire Maranello-based team.
The final tally makes for bitter reading: just seven podium finishes in twenty-four races, all of them achieved thanks to Charles Leclerc’s relentless competitive spirit and determination. There was nothing to celebrate, however, for Lewis Hamilton. The British driver, in his first season with the Prancing Horse, had to settle for four fourth-place finishes, in addition to his victory in the Sprint Race in China.
The best Ferrari of 2025? The one made of LEGO!
When reflecting on such a disappointing season, a touch of irony can certainly help. After all, Ferrari can look ahead with a degree of confidence following the encouraging feedback that emerged from the Bahrain tests of the SF-26. The next-generation car appears promising and will have the task — not an overly difficult one — of banishing the nightmare associated with its predecessor.
But when it comes to 2025, Charles Leclerc has no doubts: Ferrari’s best race was the one organized in Miami, where the drivers competed in LEGO brick replicas of their own cars. “That race was pure chaos, but probably also our best race of the season!” confirmed the Monegasque driver.

Charles Leclerc’s self-deprecating humor regarding the “LEGO Ferrari” highlights the psychological toll that a stagnant season can take on an elite driver. By finding levity in a chaotic promotional event in Miami, the Monegasque driver effectively shields himself from the frustration of a year where the SF-25 simply couldn’t keep pace with the frontrunners at Woking and Milton Keynes. This ability to maintain a positive, if slightly sarcastic, outlook is exactly what Ferrari needs from their leader as they transition into the 2026 era. It shows a driver who has processed the failures of the past and is ready to trade plastic bricks for a championship-caliber chassis in the new season.
