With only two race weekends left to secure at least one victory as promised at the start of the season, Ferrari feels the weight of pressure. The goal is not just to reach the podium, but to deliver on what was promised to fans: to fight until the very last lap and seize every opportunity to win.
Leclerc on supporting Hamilton at Ferrari
In this delicate context, Charles Leclerc spoke about the role he can play alongside his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who is still in the process of adapting to the Scuderia. The Monegasque told the media, including ScuderiaFans.com, that while he wants to support the seven-time world champion, there are limits to what he can do. “There are already so many things I need to focus on for myself and for the team, it’s difficult to find the space to give advice to Lewis. He has achieved much more than me in his career, and every team has its own processes,” Charles Leclerc explained.
He added that moving to Ferrari is not immediate, even after a year. “I have been here [at Ferrari] for eight years, I know everything, and everything feels natural. For Lewis, it is still new: the procedures, the team vision, and the way of working take time to get used to.” – the Monegasque driver pointed out ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix weekend.
Regulations and guidelines
On the regulations front, Charles Leclerc criticized the current driving guidelines, highlighting how the rigidity of rules can sometimes limit common sense in certain situations. “There are too many rules designed to cover perfect scenarios. Sometimes you risk losing good judgment. Take Turn 1 in São Paulo: the rule applied didn’t make much sense in the real situation,” he said.
A realistic approach for the final races
For now, Charles Leclerc’s focus remains firmly on maximising his own weekends while trusting the team’s engineers to guide Lewis Hamilton through the final steps of his integration. Whether that translates into the long-awaited Ferrari win before the chequered flag falls in Abu Dhabi remains to be seen – but the 28-year-old made it clear he won’t be distracted from his own mission to deliver it.
