Lewis Hamilton aims for redemption in Qatar
Lewis Hamilton’s first season at Scuderia Ferrari has certainly not gone as the British driver expected when he first arrived in Maranello. Fortunately for him (and the fans), this disappointing 2025 campaign and the current generation of cars are coming to an end. Before closing the year, however, there is still the task of finishing with dignity, putting the P20 in qualifying at Las Vegas behind him and delivering a solid performance. Lewis Hamilton will be seeking that performance in Qatar, a track he “christened” in 2021 with pole and victory, and to move past the controversy surrounding some of his recent statements, which many interpreted as resignation regarding the last two races and, above all, as an outlook toward 2026.
Lewis Hamilton’s words
“I’m not evaluating this first year at Ferrari, I just want to look forward. I believe the results speak for themselves, but there are some positives we can take to look ahead,” the Brit said during the press conference. “We’ve found cohesion within the team, there’s an amazing passion within the squad, so now let’s focus on next year. Over these 12 months, I’ve simply learned to react, to get back up on my feet.” – he pointed out.
“I’d be surprised if other drivers were excited for 2026 at the end of this year, because normally there isn’t much energy left at this stage – you mostly think about going home to your family. My words after Las Vegas? I was in the middle of frustration after a race that didn’t go particularly well, but in reality, I’m excited to see what the team will do next year and to continue building a relationship with them,” he added. “The car’s performance over these last two weekends will not change my perspective for 2026.”
“I think the car will perform reasonably well in Qatar; in terms of track profile, the car seems to suit it quite well. It will be tough to match the Red Bull, I think, but I hope for a better weekend,” Lewis Hamilton concluded ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix weekend.
McLaren wasn’t even mentioned – a telling sign of where Ferrari sees itself right now. For Lewis Hamilton, the priority is clear: finish 2025 with dignity, put the frustrations behind him and channel every ounce of energy into making sure the revolutionary 2026 Ferrari finally delivers the fairy-tale ending the Maranello faithful have been waiting for.
