Charles Leclerc has admitted that what he misses most in Formula 1 is the return of the beloved V8 engines. The Monegasque driver spoke about this topic in a recent interview with motorsport.com, stating that the loud engines are the element he longs for the most in F1.
Leclerc: “V8s gave me chills”
Charles Leclerc told motorsport.com that he would love to see (and drive) V8 engines back in Formula 1:
“I would love to see louder engines return to Formula 1. More sound would be truly appreciated. I would absolutely prefer going back to the regular V8s or even V10s, especially for the sound. That is what I miss the most in this sport; it’s what made me fall in love with Formula 1. I am from Monaco and I remember when the cars raced on my home track. They gave me chills, and I don’t think that sensation is felt anymore. Which is really a shame.”
Sprint Races and reverse grids could disrupt the circus
Charles Leclerc also shared his opinion on Sprint Races and the potential introduction of a reverse grid:
“In my opinion, the number of Sprint Races we have now is good enough, and I wouldn’t increase it. Regarding the reverse grid… I don’t know. Not in a regular weekend, at least. For a Sprint weekend, why not consider it for the Sprint Race? But it really might not fit the DNA of Formula 1. I think F1, as it is now, should remain as it is, and we shouldn’t need to reinvent anything.” – the Ferrari driver concluded.
