F1 | After Drive To Survive a new TV show dedicated to Formula 1: "One"

Following the enormous success of Drive To Survive, “One” is now scheduled, a new Formula 1-themed show that will differ from the Netflix docuseries due to the presence of a proper script and real actors. The new TV show will thus become the third production inspired by the premier class, thanks to the increasingly exponential increase in appeal and popularity, especially in the American market.

With the decision to create a docuseries that portrayed the sport from a more dramatic perspective, with behind-the-scenes footage, gossip, and uncensored conversations in the paddock, Formula 1 has taken a clear direction over the years: focusing on television entertainment to increase the user base and popularity.

After taking the first steps on Netflix, producing a series that followed the events of the real seasons, Formula 1 has decided to move towards scripted television. To do so, it relies on a new family drama set in the world of racing. The main difference with DTS, in fact, will lie precisely in the presence of a script. Furthermore, a proper cast will be carefully selected.

The upcoming show, titled “One,” will focus on the rise of a fictional F1 team owned by a family. This family “will have to face fierce personalities, ever-changing rivals, and multimillion-dollar bets.”

Formula 1 will also be a producer of the show, in collaboration with Bedrock Entertainment from ITV Studios America, a company founded by “Band of Brothers” producer Tony To and producer and director Dan Sackheim.

Bedrock Entertainment and Formula 1 themselves have stated that they will “leverage the combined access and power of F1 to create a seamless and authentic world, blending fiction with the real world.”

“One” will also feature the participation of Felicity Jones, one of the lead actresses in Star Wars and The Theory of Everything: “It’s an honor to be part of this unique and exciting partnership with Formula 1,” said the English actress.

“The world of Formula 1, with its high stakes, continuously offers dramas on the edge of possibility. Having the opportunity to create a show based on this world is an exhilarating prospect.”

Formula 1 is embracing the American continent more and more. Thanks in part to the success of its flagship shows, the United States will benefit from three Grand Prix races on American soil this year. After the Miami GP held in April, the circus will make appearances in Austin and the electrifying Las Vegas.

Furthermore, it has long been known about the new Formula 1 movie personally curated by Lewis Hamilton. The film will see Brad Pitt in the role of a retired driver coming back to compete alongside a rookie played by Damson Idris, famous for his role in the series “Snowfall.” The task of directing the movie will be entrusted to Joseph Kosinski, known for directing blockbusters like Top Gun: Maverick.
