
F1 2026 standings: Andrea Kimi Antonelli takes the lead after Japanese GP
The third round of the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship has come to an end. On the spectacular Suzuka Circuit, fans witnessed a fiercely contested race with no shortage of drama. Despite Mercedes struggling off the start line, Andrea Kimi Antonelli crossed the finish line first after executing a flawless race.
With the 25 points earned in Japan, the young Italian star of the German team made history by securing his second victory of the season and leapfrogging to the top of the 2026 Formula 1 drivers’ championship standings. Behind him, the top positions were completed by:
- 1 Andrea Kimi Antonelli – 72 points
- 2 George Russell – 63 points
- 3 Charles Leclerc – 49 points
- 4 Lewis Hamilton – 41 points
- 5 Lando Norris – 25 points
Looking at the constructors’ championship, Mercedes continues to dominate the early stages of the season. Today’s win for Kimi Antonelli, combined with George Russell’s fourth-place finish, has further extended their lead over the competition. At this point, the real battle is for second place and below. Ferrari holds second in the standings but trails Mercedes by 45 points, while McLaren, Haas, and Red Bull continue to fight their way up the order.
