David Sanchez confirms resignation and new adventure
The news of the now ex aerodynamic chief David Sanchez’s departure from Scuderia Ferrari, which was the key focus topic in the Italian and international media in the days following the 2023 Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix, has now been officially confirmed by the person directly concerned.
On Linkedin, the French engineer confirmed his choice to leave the Maranello team, also explaining that he already has an agreement to work in another Formula 1 team. David Sanchez does not specify the name of the other team, but it is now common knowledge that his new employer will be McLaren:
“After ten years at Ferrari, I have decided to leave the team for another Formula 1 project. It is my decision – the French wanted to clarify – which I have taken for quite some time. I can’t wait to get back to work.”
With a touch of irony, David Sanchez also updated his current job position in “garden leave”, thus underlining that he is in that mandatory transition phase for high-level engineers before being able to join a new team. David Sanchez’s resignation caused a lot of talk because it was part of a process of constant renewal within the Ferrari team, led primarily by the new team principal Frederic Vasseur. Understandably, it was mainly men linked to the previous management of Mattia Binotto who left.
