Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull, has made venomous remarks about Ferrari, downplaying the significance of the technician hired by the Maranello team from Milton Keynes. After recruiting a technician who has reportedly been working in Maranello for weeks, in recent days, there have been rumors about the alleged “top guy” taken from Mercedes, namely Performance Director Loic Sierra.
“They talk, talk,” said the British team principal about Ferrari’s recruitment campaign for technicians. “They make a lot of noise because it’s your journalists who, if you don’t have anything to write about, don’t survive. They have only taken one of second rank from us, certainly not a leader, but they present him as a top.”
Christian Horner’s words were very harsh towards Fred Vasseur & Co, labeling the technician hired by the Maranello team as a mere “second-rank engineer.”
In recent weeks, there have been numerous rumors about the possible departure of Red Bull’s Technical Director, Pierre Wachè. According to these reports, Ferrari would have been very close to signing the Frenchman, who has been in charge of the technical side of the Anglo-Austrian team since 2018. However, Christian Horner promptly denied all of it.
After the departures of Mattia Binotto, David Sanchez, and Laurent Mekies, Ferrari has undergone and is still going through a period of significant managerial changes, with Enrico Cardile being informally promoted to Technical Director, and Diego Ioverno taking on the responsibilities of the future AlphaTauri team principal.

Finally, the issue related to Loic Sierra, the much-talked-about “top guy” hired by Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur, remains to be clarified. The Mercedes technician, who has been at Brackley since 2010 and in the current role of performance director since 2019, would be a significant coup for the team, signaling strength and weakening rivals.
“Loic Sierra will not overlap with Enrico Cardile, who will soon be officially appointed as Technical Director,” wrote Formula1a.uno not long ago. “It’s a departure from the former world champion team, which is still dealing with some legal aftermath to be resolved. But they shouldn’t hinder the arrival of the talented engineer in Maranello.” – the Italian website informs.
