Monza: Tender launched for circuit renovation works
An important step for the future of the Italian Grand Prix. The tender for the modernization and redevelopment of the Monza circuit and its infrastructure has begun. Interested parties have until July 31st to express their interest in participating in the works.
The tender (titled “Assignment of the execution of the redevelopment works of some underpasses and the entrance avenue from Vedano, and the pavement redevelopment of the F1 track and related hydraulic works to be carried out at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza”) will be conducted through a restricted procedure, meaning that economic operators meeting the required criteria can submit their bids only after receiving an invitation from the contracting authority.
The estimated value of the contract for the works is €21,856,859.36, with an additional €928,778.54 for technical supervision and coordination services, and €145,100.72 for testing, bringing the total to €22,930,738.
Among the major interventions mentioned in the tender, there are the demolition and reconstruction of three underpasses, the construction of a new underpass, the demolition and reconstruction of concrete curbs, and the new flexible pavement “with specific layered structures to ensure specific performance parameters in terms of resistance.” The tender was eagerly awaited by ACI President Angelo Sticchi Damiani, who had expressed the need for it “to be carried out quickly” four months ago.
The works must begin immediately after September 3rd, the date of the Italian Grand Prix, and they will be crucial to keep Monza on the Formula 1 calendar even after the current contractual deadline set for 2025.
