Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur warns that the 2025 Italian Grand Prix at Monza will require clarity and focus
Frederic Vasseur, team principal of Ferrari since 2023, knows very well that the Italian Grand Prix at Monza is not just another Formula 1 race on the calendar. The event carries a unique weight, both emotionally and competitively, and the Scuderia approaches it with caution and determination.
Balancing pressure and clarity
The Ferrari boss recognizes the emotional impact of racing in front of the home crowd at Monza but stresses that clarity and focus will be essential to handle the weekend, especially after the setbacks experienced at Zandvoort. The Maranello team arrives determined to seek redemption in front of the fans who demand nothing less than excellence.
“We need clarity to avoid wasting opportunities”
The Dutch Grand Prix left Ferrari with disappointment, as both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were forced to retire. Despite the frustration, Fred Vasseur looks ahead to Monza with determination: «As every year, we cannot wait to race here, especially after Zandvoort, where we showed we had the pace to fight for a strong result but were unable to capitalize on it».
The Frenchman also emphasized the importance of the tifosi: «It is an incredible motivation for the entire team to be surrounded by the passion of our fans, and we give everything we have in everything we do. We do it to thank them for their continuous support».
Keeping emotions in check
Fred Vasseur warned against getting carried away by enthusiasm: «To succeed we need to put emotions aside and focus on handling the weekend at the very best of our abilities, from the first lap of free practice to the last lap of the race».
According to the French manager, Ferrari has made progress throughout the season, but Formula 1’s tight competition leaves no room for errors: «We have improved in terms of competitiveness, but with such a closely matched field we must avoid mistakes in order to achieve the results we have set for ourselves».
Monza as a mental and technical challenge
For Ferrari and Frederic Vasseur, Monza will not only be a technical challenge but also a mental test. The key will be to transform the immense pressure into positive energy without losing the clarity and composure required to aim high at the team’s most important race of the year.
