Charles Leclerc will not take part in FP2 of the Canadian GP: this was announced by Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur.
A black Friday for Charles Leclerc: after crashing into the wall with his Ferrari, it is unlikely he will be able to return to the track for FP2 of the Canadian GP. After just nine laps, car #16 was knocked out during the first free practice session. Red flag, and immediately back to the pits. A weekend that does not bode well.
Team principal Fred Vasseur indeed stated that Charles Leclerc’s day already appears to be over. The incident in FP1 was serious enough that the chassis is damaged.
The team will have to carry out further checks, which could take some time. This means it’s unlikely he will be able to take part in the second free practice session.
“When we left the garage, we thought we had damaged the chassis. We won’t be able to run in FP2 due to the regulations… we need to carry out checks,” Fred Vasseur revealed.
Charles Leclerc will still be able to participate in FP3 and in Saturday’s qualifying.
