Charles Leclerc on new driving style, visibility issue and physical fitness for 2022. Charles on new driving style, visibility issue and physical fitness.

Charles Leclerc is ready for the new season. “It’s a beauty!” he said of the F1-75 presented on the web this afternoon. Now it’s time to think about the track.

Already tomorrow the F1-75 will take to the track in Fiorano to cover 15 kilometers, then it will carry out the filming day at Montmelò on Tuesday 22 February and will start pre-season tests in Barcelona the following day.

Charles Leclerc thus began his speech with a group of selected media, talking about how he will have to approach the new season and, above all, the new car. This is a very different car from the previous ones and for this reason the Monegasque will attempt to try out different driving styles to understand which of those will be the most suitable to make the most of the F1-75’s characteristics.

“As Mattia said it will take a few days to push the car. But at the beginning we will have to go step by step until we get to push. The car is completely new, it will be very important to make the most of the tests we will have before starting. We will have to try out different driving styles that could work with this car. We will do it in Barcelona and Bahrain to be as ready as we can to make the most of the car’s potential. “

Nicholas Latifi and Alexander Albon immediately made it known that, with these cars, visibility has significantly worsened. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc wanted to give his point of view which is in line with that of the Williams drivers, but not because of the size of the wheels.

“I had no particular difficulties with visibility when I made the seat. I had no particular difficulties with the 18-inch wheels, as much as with the airfoils that are placed above them. Those make us see less. Until last year we had as a reference the color of the Pirelli tyres: when it stopped, we knew we had blocked the wheel. Now we will see it less. That doesn’t help, but I don’t think it’s a problem. We’ll get used to it quickly. “

One of the main questions of the new season is the following: will drivers be able to make a greater difference than in the recent past? According to Charles Leclerc it will be possible, but only with values close to the performance of the single-seaters.

“It depends how big differences there will be between the cars, whether we are closer or not. The driver can make the difference especially if we are closer than in 2021. Otherwise it will be more complicated. However, everything will be linked to how close we will be to each other.”

To conclude, Charles Leclerc also talked about his physical preparation for the new 23-race season and the renewed 3 weekends in which the drivers will have to face the Sprint Races.

“I have not changed so much the management of preparation, but that of free time. During this season it will be difficult to have more free time to relax between races. It will be a more intense season. As for the Sprint Race, the weekends with that format will but I think that the DNA of Formula 1 is more linked to the classic format, so it is okay that it is used more during the season. 3 weekends with Sprint Race are fine for me “, concluded Charles Leclerc.
