The words of Charles Leclerc in the Brazil GP press conference highlight the difficult choice between a personal victory or Ferrari finishing second in the Constructors’ Championship, and the Monegasque has shared his thoughts.
Everything is set for the Brazil GP, where Ferrari aims to continue the positive streak that started in Austin. From the United States, the Scuderia secured two podiums thanks to Charles Leclerc, who in the Brazilian press conference revealed whether he would prefer a personal race win by the end of the season or second place in the Constructors’ Championship for Ferrari.
Despite a challenging 2025, Leclerc has shown a maturity on track never seen before. More than ever, the Monte Carlo-born driver is ready to fight for a world title, and after seven years Ferrari will have the goal of supporting him in this pursuit. A major regulation change is expected next season, and the Italian side must be prepared, while also reflecting on the final races of what has been a difficult season.
Charles Leclerc: “If we were to finish second…”
Charles Leclerc said: “Neutral hopes, that’s how we approach it. The same mindset as in the last few races. In the last two races, execution has been correct, and I’m very proud of what we’ve done. But we must focus only on what we do best. I like Interlagos, even though I’ve never been on the podium here. I’m confident that if we execute perfectly, we can reach the podium. And considering how crazy things can be sometimes, who knows? Mercedes will be strong in Las Vegas, on other tracks we will fight. But we have the wind at our backs and we hope to continue like this in the final part of the season.”
It has already been noted that securing a podium in Brazil will not be simple for Ferrari, even though the Sprint weekend and the weather could mix things up. Ferrari’s objective will be to execute perfectly as in the last two races, in order to be ready to capitalize on significant opportunities. The Constructors’ Championship remains a key target, with only four races remaining in the season.
Leclerc added: “If we were to finish second in the Constructors’ Championship, it still wouldn’t be enough for a team like Ferrari. That said, considering the season so far, we’ve improved and now we are fighting, which should be our goal. Between a race win or second place in the Constructors, it’s hard to say. But winning a race would be important, just as second place is, so you can’t really choose.”
He also noted that a race win would inevitably help achieve the Constructors’ goal. In other words, one would support the other, which is why the question posed to him is not entirely precise.
