Leclerc and his hopes for 2026
After another season in which his world championship dreams have gradually faded, Charles Leclerc is watching the battle for the drivers’ title from the outside. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, unless there are completely unexpected twists, will fight for the championship, and one of the two will write their name in the history of Formula 1.
Charles Leclerc also wants to see his name in the record books, but he will have to wait until 2026. That will be the year when Ferrari is called to make a crucial leap in competitiveness, at least to be able to fight for a world championship until the very end, something the Scuderia has been missing on the drivers’ side since 2012.
Charles Leclerc’s words
Charles Leclerc spoke about the regulatory revolution that awaits Formula 1 starting next year. It will be such a major change that any prediction about the new era seems pointless: “If we win I will love it to death,” he joked to Sky Sport F1. “We are trying to start it on the right foot. The truth is that there are too many question marks for everyone and we don’t know anything about what it will be. There are rumors everywhere. I don’t know anything, we can’t say where the others are but it doesn’t matter now, we have to focus on ourselves. We have made very big progress, I am happy with how we are working, we will see next year where we are.”
One of the main contenders for the title will very likely be Max Verstappen, so far the only one capable of troubling McLaren: “Between me and him there is a lot of respect, we grew up together. Unfortunately in Formula 1 we have not yet had the chance to fight properly, but I hope one day that will be the case. It is our duty to have a better car to go and catch them.” – the Ferrari driver concluded.
