The Monegasque driver was interviewed by Gianluca Gazzoli in the latest episode of the popular BSMT podcast
Ferrari’s red idol
Loved by Ferrari fans and by millions of enthusiasts around the world, Charles Leclerc has perhaps won less than he would have deserved so far in his career. He is still chasing that elusive world title, the ultimate dream for any Formula 1 driver. Nevertheless, over the years he has become an absolute reference point within the Formula 1 paddock, especially thanks to his incredibly strong bond with Ferrari.
Speaking in the latest episode of the popular BSMT podcast, hosted by Gianluca Gazzoli, Charles Leclerc opened up about his unique relationship with the Scuderia. The Monegasque has been part of the Ferrari family since a very young age, having grown through the Ferrari Driver Academy before becoming a full-time Ferrari driver in 2019. It is not even ruled out that he could decide to spend the remainder of his career with the Maranello-based team. This is a connection that goes far beyond a simple professional relationship, something rather unusual in today’s highly professional and business-driven Formula 1 environment.
The most loved team
“Being at Ferrari is truly something special. I have been on the side of the fan, watching every Grand Prix on Sundays hoping that the red car would win, and now I am the one in the cockpit receiving all that support directly,” Charles Leclerc explained. “I still feel the same passion I had back then, even though now, obviously, as a driver, I cannot allow myself to feel certain emotions while driving. But the passion and the love I have for this team are intact. This is what makes Ferrari special: it is a brand that brings together all generations, from children to the elderly. Everyone dreams of the same thing: seeing Ferrari at the top.”
The world championship, once again this year, appears to be a distant target with such a dominant Mercedes on the grid. However, Charles Leclerc remains fully committed to pushing forward the development of the SF-26: “This year, development is extremely important, it is crucial. There is a lot of work to be done in Maranello to develop new parts and to try things on the simulator. We all have to push in the same direction to bring Ferrari back to the top,” the Monegasque concluded.
Charles Leclerc’s words on the BSMT podcast reaffirm his position as not just a driver, but a true ambassador for the Ferrari spirit. Despite the current technical challenges posed by a dominant Mercedes, his motivation appears unshakable, rooted in a childhood dream that has now become a professional mission. As the 2026 season enters its critical development phase, the synergy between Leclerc and the engineers in Maranello will be the deciding factor in whether the SF-26 can finally bridge the gap. For the Tifosi, Leclerc remains the symbol of hope—a driver who understands the weight of the red suit because he once wore the colors as a fan in the grandstands.
