The Rumors about Charles Leclerc
This week, Italian daily newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport reported a behind-the-scenes story about what allegedly happened during the Japanese Grand Prix weekend, where Charles Leclerc supposedly took a firm stance to demand a particular setup for his SF-25. This was said to go against the technical indications chosen by the team, which were tuned to Lewis Hamilton’s needs. The Italian newspaper also suggested the possibility of different paths being followed by the two drivers, with Ferrari supporting them for the remainder of the season.
Charles Leclerc’s Denial
According to Charles Leclerc, speaking to Sky Sport Italia on Thursday ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, this was far from the truth, and he appeared genuinely surprised by the reports: “I don’t really understand where these rumors came from. I’ll reiterate what I said at Suzuka, and there’s nothing negative about it: I’ve taken a direction that I found very interesting to work on – as we do every year – and I want to keep pushing in that direction.”
Charles Leclerc completely downplayed any whispers of discord with the Ferrari team: “There’s nothing true in what I’ve seen and read about me going in a different direction from the team. We’re all here to try to maximize the car’s potential, and if I feel comfortable putting the car in a different place, then it’s positive for everyone,” concluded the Monegasque driver.
