In a recent interview, the Ferrari driver reported a conversation with Lewis Hamilton at the end of the 2023 Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix. A chat that left Charles Leclerc confused after Lewis Hamilton spoke about Max Verstappen’s RB19 car.
We all know that the 2023 Formula One season has been dominated by Red Bull, especially by Max Verstappen, who won 19 out of 22 races on the calendar. Among them is the victory in Mexico, right in front of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. In the interview given by Charles Leclerc, the Monegasque revealed that Lewis Hamilton told him he could see exactly where Max Verstappen’s car was better just by looking.
A conversation that left Charles Leclerc considerably perplexed, to the point of not being able to understand how Lewis Hamilton could notice such details.
“I talked to Lewis after Mexico, where he told me he can see exactly where Max’s car is better,” Charles Leclerc said – “Maybe for him, it’s true, but I have to say I can’t notice these details. We are talking about millimetric differences in ride height or suspension travel.” – the Ferrari man pointed out.
“Of course, you can see if a car has softer or harder suspensions and where it gains space on you.” – he added – “I usually prefer to watch onboard videos. The helmet allows me to see what the car does and doesn’t do on the track.”

After sharing this particular anecdote from the conversation with Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc expressed his opinion on Max Verstappen’s season. Considerations that went beyond the strength of his and Max Verstappen’s cars. In fact, Charles Leclerc stated that this doesn’t mean the Dutchman had an easy season: “It would be really unfair,” commented Charles Leclerc. “Sure, he is in an advantageous position today, but he had to work hard to get there.”
About Red Bull, he expressed himself, saying, “They have simply done a good job to get where they are now. I respect that. Now we have to do an equally good job to catch up with them.” – the Monegasque driver concluded.
