F1 | The condition that could see Charles Leclerc move to Aston Martin
Charles Leclerc and the entire Ferrari team faced a challenging 2025 F1 season. Despite several updates, results were hard to come by. At the end of the 24-race calendar, the Monegasque driver achieved seven podiums but no victories. On several occasions, due to Ferrari’s struggles, Charles Leclerc was linked to other teams, primarily Aston Martin. Comments from his manager, Nicolas Todt, fueled rumors about a potential departure from the Scuderia. Despite some difficult years, the Monegasque driver has always reiterated his love for Ferrari and his commitment to bringing the Maranello team back to the top.
Leclerc is bound to Ferrari by a multi-year contract, but during the F1 Season Review show, Ted Kravitz speculated that the driver could leave Ferrari before Lewis Hamilton.
A future away from Ferrari?
According to journalist Ted Kravitz, the idea of Charles Leclerc leaving Ferrari early could materialize if the team fails to provide him with a car capable of winning the championship. During the F1 Season Review show, Kravitz said: “Let’s not forget Charles Leclerc. Another thing that happened this year is that his manager, Nicolas Todt, right after the summer break, started saying, well, it’s time for Charles to be in a car capable of fighting for the title and maybe look elsewhere. Even though I think he signed with Ferrari until the end of 2028. So it could be Leclerc who leaves Ferrari before [Lewis] Hamilton.”
Potential destinations
If that were to happen, which team could he join? According to Ted Kravitz, the most concrete option could be Aston Martin, but only under one condition: “He was brilliant this year, right? I think he’s in my top five drivers of 2025. He was fantastic. He’s ready to win a championship, just like George Russell. Where could he go? Potentially, maybe if Aston Martin, with a car designed by Newey and a Honda engine, performs well in the coming years and fails to secure Max Verstappen, then I would put Charles Leclerc there.”
Ferrari fans hope Charles Leclerc’s passion prevails, but in a driver market full of surprises, nothing is certain. His talent deserves a championship shot—whether in red or elsewhere remains one of the off-season’s biggest talking points.
