The second free practice session at the Singapore Grand Prix delivered an unexpected moment when Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris collided in the pit lane. With just 12 minutes remaining in FP2, the incident unfolded seconds after Race Control announced the session restart time.
McLaren released Lando Norris into the fast lane, but almost simultaneously Ferrari sent Charles Leclerc out from the adjacent garage. The two cars met head-on, with Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari SF-25 clipping the front-left of Lando Norris’ McLaren. Despite Norris attempting to take evasive action, the contact forced him into the small barrier in front of the pit wall, breaking his car’s front wing.
The stewards quickly confirmed that the clash would be investigated after the session, unsurprising given the rare and risky nature of a pit lane collision. Pit releases are normally carefully managed to avoid such incidents, but the close timing between Ferrari and McLaren left both drivers with little room to react.
The incident capped a tense evening practice session on the Marina Bay Street Circuit, where teams were gathering crucial long-run and qualifying data ahead of Saturday. Both Ferrari and McLaren will now assess the damage and await the outcome of the stewards’ decision, which could carry sporting or financial penalties depending on who is deemed at fault.
