Alfa Romeo Racing Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen admitted that is not a fan of the new Monaco layout and instead prefers the track before it changed. The Finn believes that Monaco used to be more about the driver but now whoever has the fastest car will win. The 2007 Formula One world champion will hope that he can perform well around the track that he doesn’t like and continue his impressive run.
“It might be a nice place to watch, but honestly I don’t like Monaco at all,” Kimi Raikkonen said, as reported by GrandPX – “It is no longer the track that I drove when I was here for the first time,” he added – “The swimming pool corner was tighter, the first corner had a barrier, and the rest was changed as well. Before, the driver was able to make a difference here, but not anymore,” he added. “Now, the fast car is always at the top.” – Kimi Raikkonen said, ahead of the race this weekend.

This weekend, the Kimi Raikkonen – who won the prestigious street race in 2005 – is celebrating his 300th grand prix. But the Finn does not want to celebrate: “I don’t want cakes, drinks, nothing. It’s just a number that means nothing to me.” – Kimi told Auto Motor und Sport.
Alfa Romeo driver Kimi Raikkonen treated fans to yet more radio gold during the practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix 2019. As it turned out, the veteran Finn was blocked by one of the Racing Point cars. Then he radioed his team and said, “Yeah I have that Force India or whatever the f*** its called.”

Commentator and journalist Graeme Murray Walker, who provided television commentary of live Formula 1 coverage for the BBC between 1976 and 1996, and for that of ITV between 1997 and 2001, continues to be impressed with the high performance of Kimi Raikkonen in his debut year:

Lewis Hamilton shunted himself and Ferrari’s world champion Kimi Raikkonen out of the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix in a bizarre pit-lane pile-up while the safety car was deployed. Kimi had stopped at the red light at the end of the pit lane on lap 20, with BMW Sauber’s Polish driver Robert Kubica waiting alongside, after they had made their first pitstops.
Hamilton failed to brake in time, the Briton piling hard into the back of the stationary Ferrari with German driver Nico Rosberg’s Williams then piling into the McLaren and breaking his front wing.

On 27th April 2008, the Spanish Grand Prix was held at the Catalunya circuit. Quickest in qualifying was Ferrari’s world champion, Kimi Raikkonen, who beat Fernando Alonso in the Renault by 91 thousandths, with Felipe Massa third in the other Ferrari.
In the race, the Finn got away well and cleanly, while Massa fairly comfortably moved up to second. The two Ferraris controlled the entire race and while the gaps to Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren and Robert Kubica in the BMW Sauber came down, their superiority was never challenged.
At the end of the race, Kimi Raikkonen was able to celebrate the triple by adding the fastest race lap to pole and the win, while for Ferrari this was its 78th one-two finish. Kimi moved up to 29 points in the table, to consolidate his leadership over Lewis Hamilton who was 9 points behind.
Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa’s winning margin of 0.9s over Lewis Hamilton suggests the 200/ Spanish Grand Prix was a close run thing. In fact it was anything but, and a Ferrari one-two looked like an inevitability from the first corner. Kimi never once looked like losing the lead and confirmed afterwards that the Ferrari cars had time in hand: “We could have run a bit faster but [there’s] no point to push when you don’t need to.”
