Carlos Sainz’s adventure with Ferrari will last another year but will end in the worst way possible: with an unwanted breakup by the Spaniard, forcing him to experience his last 24 Grands Prix in red as a separated party within the team. A completely unexpected piece of news until a day ago when, despite stalled contract renewal negotiations, everyone still expected the imminent announcement of the extension of the Madrilenian’s contract.
“Ferrari has decided this way, and one can only respect the decision,” comments Carlos’s father with a few words, a fresh winner of his fourth Dakar. There is a clear disappointment on the face of the Spanish champion, who hoped to see his son dressed in red well beyond the expiration date set for the end of 2024.
What future awaits Carlos now? The most popular hypothesis would see him joining Stake in 2025, awaiting the transition to Audi the following year. Sainz himself, speaking a few days after winning the Dakar, had made cryptic statements about it: “I believe Audi is a guarantee.”
“I know how seriously they take every project, and I know what the German mentality entails in the world of motorsport, with its advantages and disadvantages. But we must respect the Volkswagen Group as Audi.” – he pointed out.

“We all know that F1 is a somewhat special world, but I have a lot of respect for Audi,” he added. “I think it will be a matter of time before they succeed in Formula 1.
“I don’t have a crystal ball, but if Audi decides to enter F1, they have all my respect. I believe they are making every effort to make it a good project. Of course, at home, since I am part of the Audi family, it is logical that we talk and exchange opinions about what the Audi team can be in the future.” – Carlos Sainz Sr concluded.

Before thinking about his new adventure, the Madrilenian will have to focus on his last year with Ferrari, in which he will still be partnered with Charles Leclerc. It will be interesting to analyze his expressions on the day of the launch of the SF24, which, as a reminder, will take place on February 13 at Fiorano.
