Born on June 1, 2004, in Costa Blanca, Spain, Maya Weug holds triple nationality: Dutch, Belgian, and Spanish.
Her racing career began in Spain in 2013, competing in karting championships.
In 2016, Maya moved to Italy, where she continued her karting career.
In 2020, she participated in the Girls on Track – Rising Stars initiative and earned entry into the Ferrari Driver Academy, becoming the first girl to achieve this milestone.
The following year, Maya Weug made her single-seater debut in the Italian Formula 4 Championship, also participating in some events in the German F4 series.
In 2022, she joined the Iron Dames team, competing in both the German and Italian F4 championships, achieving numerous points finishes.
Meanwhile, she continued her association with the Ferrari Driver Academy, seen here with Mattia Binotto, Benedetto Vigna, and Jean Todt at the Fiorano circuit.
2023 marked Maya Weug’s debut in the Formula Regional championship, where she scored 27 points during the season.
Now, it’s time for another change of scenery as she commits to the F1 Academy, representing Scuderia Ferrari.
“I am really excited to start racing this season,” said Maya Maya – “I am confident that working with the Prema team will be an interesting experience.”
“It is a great honor for me to continue representing Ferrari this year. I am now preparing hard with the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy and Prema, with the goal of being a protagonist this season,” explained Maya.
The first event with the F1 Academy in 2024 is scheduled from March 7 to 9 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
