Carlos Sainz and Jannik Sinner exchanged some words after the Italian’s victory in his debut at the Monte Carlo ATP.
A meeting between great champions in the principality. Carlos Sainz and Jannik Sinner met after the debut match of the Italian professional tennis player at the Monte Carlo ATP. A match that the current world number 2 won convincingly 6-1, 6-2 against Sebastian Korda.
An intersection between the world of F1 and tennis took place in the Principality. The Spanish driver of Ferrari was in the stands, with his girlfriend, during the Italian’s first match in the tournament. The two then exchanged some words.
Sinner: “Have you watched some tennis?”
Sainz: “I was here to watch you.”
Sinner: “Ah, okay.”
Sainz: “Exactly behind you.”
Sinner: “Ah, behind me?”
Sainz: “I was cheering for you.”
Sinner: “Thank you very much indeed. Anyway, congratulations!”
Sainz: “Do you follow Formula 1?”
Sinner: “I love Formula 1. Of course, I follow it.”
Sainz: “Will you come to any race this year?”
Sinner: “We’re trying. You know, now there’s the Roland Garros.”
Sainz: “Maybe you could come just on Sunday.”
Sinner: “Yes, exactly. If the tournament goes badly, I’ll definitely come.”
Sainz: “I hope you don’t then.”
Sinner: “I hope not, I hope not. But I follow it a lot, it’s great.”
Jannik Sinner has also been chosen as an ambassador for F1 in 2024. Last December, the Italian was appointed “Friends of F1.” His role will be to promote the category within the world of tennis. So we will certainly see him in the paddock on some occasions.
However, the meeting between Carlos Sainz and Jannik Sinner was not the only mix between F1 and Tennis at the Monte Carlo ATP. George Russell was also present in the stands. Not for Jannik Sinner, but for Novak Djokovic. The Serbian was then joined by Carlos Sainz, with the two taking a photo together.
