The opening rounds of the newly started Formula 1 championship haven’t delivered the joys Ferrari fans had hoped for. Starting out with big ambitions, Ferrari – after the initial disappointments – is now pushing to challenge McLaren again: Benedetto Vigna, CEO of the Scuderia, has urged his team on ahead of the upcoming races.
The 2025 Formula 1 season had begun with great hopes for the Prancing Horse. The arrival of Sir Lewis Hamilton in Maranello had drawn all of Formula 1’s media attention to the Modena-based team. Despite the arrival of the British champion and the clear ambitions developed after a strong 2024, the new Ferrari single-seater has shown a few too many issues. Difficult to fully understand and with potential still unknown, the SF-25 is now under close scrutiny by the engineers in red, who are working on further upgrades to bring the tricolour back to the top of F1.
Present at the latest shareholders’ meeting, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna gave a very early assessment of the newly started championship. Pleased with Ferrari’s good start in the WEC, the CEO congratulated Antonello Coletta’s team. “Congratulations to the entire team for the historic 1-2-3 achieved in Qatar last February, at the opening race of the Endurance world championship. We couldn’t have started better.”
Bouncing back in F1 too, Benedetto Vigna: “Ferrari has a clear objective”
From praising the Endurance division to pushing the Formula 1 team. Despite the false start in the F1 championship, Ferrari still harbours hopes of making a comeback during the season – and Benedetto Vigna shares this belief. “We aim to compete at the highest level, both in F1 and in Endurance, with a reinforced team. We have a clear objective: to win!”
Fred Vasseur’s team is now preparing for the Jeddah weekend, where the SF-25s will be able to better exploit the floor upgrades debuted in Bahrain. “In Formula 1 the team is more focused than ever on fighting for the podium and for victory. The team is building on the progress made and is driven by tireless motivation,” said Benedetto Vigna.
