Ferrari president John Elkann has announced the Prancing Horse’s new commitment. The project, which had already been hinted at in early 2024, now enters its active phase, and the president of Ferrari will be able to count on an exceptional Italian sailor: Giovanni Soldini.

“Enzo Ferrari was always looking for the next challenge, just like we are today.” With this opening, John Elkann began his historic announcement to Ferrari shareholders during the company’s annual meeting. The president of Ferrari then elaborated: “We are preparing to enter the world of sailing. The pursuit of peak performance at sea will offer us new opportunities for innovation in terms of technology, performance, and sustainability.”

This commitment at sea is also functional for other projects. The president of Ferrari is convinced of the value of this new venture. “We are certain,” John Elkann continued, “that our knowledge will inspire our future racing and sports cars.”

“The launch was part of a series of unprecedented experiences organized around the Miami Grand Prix,” explained John Elkann. The head of the Maranello company went on: “Our celebrations brought the Ferrari community together in the U.S. They also showcased every facet of the Prancing Horse’s three souls: racing, sports cars, and lifestyle.”

Then came the moment to welcome Giovanni Soldini. Elkann and Ferrari will rely on the collaboration of the experienced sailor from Milan in this new sailing adventure. The 57-year-old has been entrusted with the “Cavalluccio di mare” project, taking on the role of Team Principal. Giovanni Soldini will be the Fred Vasseur of Ferrari’s sailing team, as we await the Prancing Horse’s debut in the America’s Cup. “We are about to embark on an exciting journey that will expand our racing soul,” explained John Elkann.
