An Italian driver at the wheel of a Ferrari car in Formula 1 racing has always been a big desire for all the fans and for the Italian press, who now has many hopes in future progress of Antonio Giovinazzi. Born 14 December 1993, in Martina Franca, Antonio Giovinazzi is seen as one of the great drivers of the next generation and his official nomination as Ferrari’s third driver for the 2017 Formula One seasons has created high expectations for the future.
The 2016 GP2 Series runner-up has been praised by many great personalities, including the likes Jean Alesi, a man who is very familiar with racing with the Scuderia. The 23-year-old Italian will be waiting in the wings this season, and if for any reason the House of Maranello calls, he will be ready to step into the limelight if at any moment Sebastian Vettel or Kimi Raikkonen should not be able to race.
In the meantime Antonio Giovinazzi will perform simulator work for Scuderia Ferrari, which should provide important data for the development procces of the 2017 car: “I am still adjusting to being part of such a big family, with lots of people working around two drivers” – Antonio Giovinazzi told Sky Sport 24 (Italy’s only 24-hour sports news channel) on Wednesday – “As third driver I will have to work hard in the simulator and I am looking forward to helping the team work on the car for this year.” – he added – “Of course I am new here and I have a lot to learn, but I am very motivated and will give 110 per cent, because if during the year there is a chance to drive in a race, I will certainly accept it.” – the young Italian driver concluded.
