Ferrari has confirmed that Alba Larsen will continue representing the Maranello team in F1 Academy in 2027, securing a third season in the championship for the Danish member of the Ferrari Driver Academy.
The decision forms part of a wider series of announcements concerning Ferrari’s young-driver structure for next season. Rafael Câmara is set to graduate to Formula 1 with Haas, while Dino Beganovic will retain a connection with Maranello in a different capacity. Larsen, meanwhile, remains part of Ferrari’s plans as the team’s representative in the all-female F1 Academy series.
Alba Larsen earns third F1 Academy season with Ferrari
Larsen will be able to continue in F1 Academy following a regulation change introduced by the championship. Drivers would normally be restricted in the number of seasons they can contest, but a provision introduced last year allows competitors who meet the required performance criteria to return for a third campaign.
That exception gives Ferrari the opportunity to continue developing the 17-year-old through another full F1 Academy season. Larsen became an official member of the Ferrari Driver Academy ahead of 2026 after previously attracting Maranello’s attention through the FIA Girls on Track programme and her first year in F1 Academy.
Her development within Ferrari has since become part of the team’s broader investment in young drivers. The full picture for next season can be seen in Ferrari’s recently confirmed 2027 Driver Academy line-up, which includes several changes across the junior categories.
Alba Larsen sits fourth in the F1 Academy standings
Larsen currently occupies fourth place in the F1 Academy drivers’ championship with 50 points. One of the highlights of her campaign came at Zandvoort, where she secured second place and strengthened her position in the standings.
The Danish driver made her F1 Academy debut in 2025 with support from Tommy Hilfiger before subsequently moving into Ferrari’s junior programme. Her arrival followed the departures of Maya Weug and Aurelia Nobels, leaving Larsen to become the latest female prospect supported directly through Maranello’s development structure.
Her path towards that position has included continued work with Ferrari away from race weekends as well as competition on track. Larsen has previously outlined how access to Ferrari’s facilities and Driver Academy resources has contributed to her development as she attempts to progress through the junior single-seater ranks.
Ferrari commitment gives Larsen continuity for 2027
Confirming her return, Alba Larsen reflected positively on her first two years in F1 Academy and the championship’s development during that period. She explained that she had experienced first-hand how much the series had grown and how important it had become, while also highlighting the contribution of Susie Wolff, the championship organisation, its supporters and the team around her.
Larsen added that she had developed considerably during her time in the category and was proud to remain part of the project. She is now looking forward to returning to competition with Ferrari support in 2027.
The renewal also provides continuity at a time when Ferrari is reshaping other parts of its junior programme. Larsen will remain one of the young drivers around whom the next phase of the academy is being built, while her additional F1 Academy season offers another opportunity to turn the experience gained since her 2025 debut into stronger results.
Her progress can also be followed through ScuderiaFans’ Alba Larsen coverage, including her performances, Ferrari Driver Academy development and F1 Academy campaign.
